Abstract
The shortest roots of the Tripleurospermum perforatum was in the treatment with 2.7 g of caraway sprouts, and it was significantly shorter than in the control. The biomass content of the caraway influenced the growth of the roots of the Tripleurospermum perforatum. Compared to the caraway sprouts biomass, the caraway roots inhibited the growth of Tripleurospermum perforatum roots less – the lenght ranged from 0.71 to 1.13 cm.
The experiment was carried out at the Experimental Station of the Agriculture Academy of Vytautas Magnus University. The experiments were performed in 2019. For the experiment was used different morphological parts of the first and second growth year caraway. During the laboratory experiment, the seeds of the Tripleurospermum perforatum were germinated with different quantities of morphological parts biomass of the caraway, which differed in biomass levels. During the study, it was found that the seeds of the Tripleurospermum perforatum germinated the best in the control. Caraway sprouts, with biomass levels (2.7 and 4.5 g) and caraway roots biomass of 4.5 g significantly reduced the germination rate up to 63.8– 68.1% compared to control. When the lowest quantity (0.9 g) of biomass of the caraway roots was used in the experiment, the germination was the lowest, it was only 16.6%. Compared to the caraway sprouts, caraway roots inhibited the growth of Tripleurospermum perforatum less, the height of germinated seedlings ranged from 0.48 to 0.57 cm. The amount of caraway biomass which was the lowest (0.9 g), significantly reduced the height of the seedlings compared to the control, but the morphological part type had no significant effect. The biomass (2.7g) of the caraway sprouts compared to the control significantly reduced the height of the Tripleurospermum perforatum seedlings up to 0.21 cm. Comparing the control with the highest biomass content (4.5 g) of caraway sprouts, the height of the Tripleurospermum perforatum seedlings was the shortest 0.10 cm. The roots of caraway inhibited the growth of the Tripleurospermum perforatum seedlings less than the caraway biomass of sprouts. Caraway 2.7 g of roots biomass had no significant effect on the growth of the Tripleurospermum perforatum roots, which was 1.13 cm.
