Abstract: Plant biotechnology-based induction of polyploidal forms of annual diploidal medicinal plants was performed in order to increase the production of the biologically active compounds and improve the quality of raw material of medicinal plants. It was demonstrated that the polyploidal forms obtained can be reproduced vegetatively in vitro. Their initial diploidal forms did not demonstrate such ability. For these plants phenolic compounds, flavonoids and antioxidant activity were evaluated in initial diploidal forms and experimentally created polyploidal meristems. Antioxidant activity of polyploidal plants comparing to the control samples in all cases was higher. From capillary electrophoretic and HPLC analysis of methanolic extracts of medicinal plants it can be concluded, that they differ not only quantitatively, but also qualitatively.
