Abstract: It the present study prospects of statehood, geopolitical position and territorial dynamics of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania are analysed through the angle of the literary heritage. The base of sources for the research consists of the most characteristic narrative texts by Lithuanian, Polish and Western European authors of the sixteenth century, which are used to identify perception models of the GDL territory and space, highlighting a variety of interpretative schemes. The texts of the research are analysed for details distinguishing the mental or specific territorial model of the state, its vision and geopolitical identity.[...]
