Abstract: Remiantis empirinių tyrimų duomenimis, straipsnyje išskiriamos bei apibūdinamos lietuvių imigrantų Anglijoje, Norvegijoje, Ispanijoje ir Airijoje naudojamos tautinės tapatybės darybos strategijos. Identifikuojant pagrindinius tautinės tapatybės darybos procesus, jų konteksto ypatumus, svarbiausius naudojamus resursus bei praktikavimo būdus, išskiriamos trys pagrindinės strategijos: etninės kultūrinės erdvės konstravimo, imigrantų kultūrinio atvirumo bei emocinio saistymosi su kilmės kraštu
The focus of the article is on the strategies of national identity used by Lithuanian immigrants in England, Norway, Spain and Ireland. While identifying the main processes, features of the socio- cultural context, resources and practices, three prevailing strategies have been revealed. The first strategy – construction of ethnic cultural space – could be defined as a process of identity work based of the construction of a de-territorialized cultural space. It contextualizes the process of ethnic identity construction and is used by immigrants as the main resource for the construction and practicing of Lithuanian-ness. The second strategy – cultural opennes – is based on the undermining of ethnic identity by its rare use in public area and reducing Lithuanian-ness to using the Lithuanian language and occasionally practicing Lithuanian ethnic customs. In case of the third strategy – that of immigrants’ emotional linkage with the country of origin – the emotional and symbolical linkages with the community of their origin and imagining returning home are used by immigrants as the main resources of national identity
