Abstract
The problem of family conflicts has always been a serious concern in each society. Conflicts have had a great impact on history in all the stages of society development. Wars, uprisings, struggle for power or for property, interpersonal and group conflicts in organisations, killings, household and family conflicts have been the main causes of early deaths in the country. A conflict has always been and will remain the decisive factor affecting the citizens’ security. Practice has shown that conflict cannot be easily controlled by life experience and common sense (Edelman, Crain, 1997). A conflict is the sharpest form of solving essential contradictions arising during interrelations of contradicting agents, and is usually accompanied by negative emotions. This gives rise to the objective to analyse the issue of solving family contradictions, especially because those contradictions lead to unnecessary conflicts and alienation of family members. The paper presents an overview of scientific literature and an attempt to disclose the nature of conflicts and to define conflict solution strategies. The family is a community consisting of per-sons, and their coexistence is based on the sense of community. Family stability is considered to be the evaluation of its life quality. The family remains stable if it performs its main functions: satisfies emotional, spiritual and cooperation needs of all the members. The present study has helped to reveal the fact that appropriate application of conflict solution strategies can improve the spouses’ interrelations and strengthen the family. [...]
