Abstract
Aktyvus interneto komunikacijos naudojimas; 3.
In the modern society, the Internet affects more and more people’s lives, and the spread of innovations continuously increases. The start-ups created by innovatively thinking entrepreneurs are one of the key elements in the innovation spread process. ‘Facebook’, ‘Instagram’, ‘Twitter’ — all of these companies started their business as small technological start-ups, and expanded since into multi-billion corporations. In the last few years, Lithuania is also seeing the proliferation of technological start-ups, events dedicated to them, and methods to support them, as well as the growth of start-up community. Owing to the Internet technology, operating start-ups may be one of the most important pillars of Lithuanian economy in the future, therefore the aim of this thesis is to delve into the communication features of Lithuanian start-ups and to discover the best model of start-up communication. The object the Master’s Thesis is the communication of Lithuanian start-ups. The aim of the Thesis — to delve into the communication features of Lithuanian start-ups and to discover the best model of start-up communication. The objectives of the Thesis are as follows: 1. To uncover theoretical features of start-up communication, and to formulate a theoretical model of start-up communication; 2. To perform the classification of Lithuanian start-ups, and to confirm the importance of on-line communication in their activities; 3. To supplement the model of communication formulated in the theoretical part with data gathered in the empirical study, and to distinguish the major success factors of Lithuanian start-up communication; On the basis of the classification of start-ups, the empirical model of communication, and the success factors of start-up communication, to investigate two cases of Lithuanian start-ups. Following the review of source material, the theoretical model of start-up communication has been formulated, which specifies the transformation of innovative ideas of an entrepreneur into the product and its path to the end user. In order for the idea to be implemented, at an earlier stage it may require the external funding, where the bi-directional communication through direct and indirect channels with the providers whereof should be maintained, and at a later stage after the development of the product, it may require an effective promotion strategy, which should be based on on-line communication. Following the quantitative content analysis and the study of 97 internet websites of Lithuanian start-ups, the hypotheses that the majority of Lithuanian start-ups develop only web-based virtual products and services, most of which is web-based software, and 5 physical products or services are developed rarely, have been affirmed. In addition to the fact that this validated the importance of on-line communication, this study also helped to select specific start-ups for case analyses in a clearer fashion. Following the in-depth expert interviews with Lithuanian and world start-up community members, the model of communication formulated in thetheoretical part has been supplemented, and the following success factors of start-up communication have been distinguished: 1. Concise and clear presentation of the problem and its solution; 2. Active use of on-line communication; 3. Continuous communication with test and end-users, as well as listening to them; 4. Proper use of public relations; 5.Specific and clear identification and justification of requested investments in communication with the investors. Finally, the communication of ‘BusyFlow’ and ‘TransferGO’ has been studied, based on the model of communication supplemented in the empirical part, and discovered success factors of start-up communication. The study results showed that both selected start-ups perform their communication properly, with the exception of insufficient use of public relations.
