Abstract
Socialinei paramai nustatyti buvo naudojamas socialinės paramos klausimynas (The Medical outcome Study Social Support servery, C. D. Sherbourne, A., L. Stewart, 1993).
The aim of the research was to determine the connections between the social support of people with physical disability and the psychological wellbeing. The total of researched people was 80: 40 were disabled people(50%) as well as 40 (50%) with no physical disabilities. During the research, the group of disabled people contained 17 (42,5%) males and 23 (57,5%) females. Those with no physical disability were 18 males (45%) and 22(55%) females. A social support survey was used in order to research the area. (The Medical outcome Study Social Support survey, C. D. Sherbourne, A., L. Stewart, 1993). Also, a survey of psychological wellbeing was used (C. Ryff, 1989), with the purpose to determine the overall level of psychological wellbeing. The research has shown that the position in the family, the location of living, the fact who does the researched individual lives with, and whether the individual is employed, all factors have influence on social support received. It can be stated that, the highest social support indicators have those individuals, which are married, are employed, live in a city and live with a partner. The hypothesis raised at the beginning of the research which is that social demographic indicators are connected with social support indicators, has been approved. The second hypothesis which states that the indicators of social support differ from individuals with physical disability groups with those without disability, has been approved. Higher social support indicators (more social support), have been observed in the group of individuals with no physical disability. The third hypothesis which states that psychological wellbeing indicators differ from individuals with physical disability with those with no physical disability, has not been approved. The fourth hypothesis which states that physically disabled individuals with higher social support indicators have higher psychological wellbeing indicators in contrast from those with lower social support indicators, has been approved. The last hypothesis which states that individuals with lower social support indicators tend to seek more for assistance of a psychologist rather than those individuals with higher social support indicators, has also been approved.
