Being the Innovative Teacher: everyday practices

Abstract

Innovative teacher is what is needed to address the incoming changes, demands and challenges of the future societies. Beneath the main characteristics innovative teachers share, some attributes are the enablers for innovative behaviours and practices. The goal of the investigation is to find which are those enablers and define what is behind being innovative teacher. Using phenomenological approach, listening to innovative Basque teacher lived experiences, and by interpreting their innovative practices, mental processes and perceptions, the research concluded that beneath all innovative actions and behaviours, there is a previous requirement. Passion towards job is needed to guide ethical and professional future actions, and awareness of the reality and resources the teacher has is also needed. Consciousness and reflection are the real drivers of innovative teacher development. To develop such behaviours among teachers to become innovative practitioners, teacher reflective practices should be considered for their professional and personal development.

Inovatyvus mokytojas yra tai, ko reikia norint patenkinti būsimus visuomenės pokyčius, reikalavimus ir iššūkius. Kai kurios pagrindinės savybės, kurias turi novatoriški mokytojai, yra keletas požymių, leidžiančių skatinti novatorišką elgesį ir praktiką. Tyrimo tikslas yra išsiaiškinti, kurie yra šie veiksniai, ir apibrėžti, kas yra novatoriškas mokytojas. Taikant fenomenologinį požiūrį, klausantis inovatyvios baskų mokytojų gyvenimiškos patirties ir aiškinant jų novatorišką praktiką, psichinius procesus ir suvokimą, tyrime padaryta išvada, kad, atsižvelgiant į visus novatoriškus veiksmus ir elgesį, yra ankstesnis reikalavimas. Aistra darbui reikalinga norint nukreipti etinius ir profesinius ateities veiksmus, taip pat reikalingas mokytojo suvokimas apie realybę ir išteklius. Sąmoningumas ir refleksija yra tikrieji novatoriškų mokytojų tobulėjimo varikliai. Norint ugdyti tokį mokytojų elgesį, kad jis taptų novatorišku praktiku, turėtų būti atsižvelgiama į mokytojų refleksijos praktiką jų profesiniam ir asmeniniam tobulėjimui.
