Abstract

<p> The article deals with the main lifelong learning models which are described in the European Round Table of Industrialists and the Standing Conference of Rectors, Presidents and vice-chancellors of the European Universities. The author analyses Memorandum on Higher Education in the European Community and other European documents, concerning the development of lifelong learning in West Europe. </p> <p> D. Beresnevičienė concludes that the main focus of the mentioned above documents is laid upon the following factors: 1) the establishment of institutions, organizing lifelong learning, 2) the co-operation among universities and industry, 3) the flexibility of educational system itself and openness of the knowledge, skills and psychological attitudes of the manpower, fit for work in the 21-st century. </p>
