Access Requirements

The prospective students are expected to have a Bachelor degree in political sciences. The bachelors of the other social sciences or humanities may apply as well. The bachelors having diploma in the other social sciences than political sciences are expected to have at least 10 ECTS credits of the other social sciences study courses, 4 ECTS credits of Humanities study courses, and 15 ECTS credits of political sciences study courses.

Programme Objectives and Competencies Acquired

Graduate degree programme in Contemporary European Politics is aimed at preparing qualified political science professionals  having knowledge of the main European political conceptions as well as professional skills not only creatively and critically apply theoretical and empirical knowledge in the analysis of political processes of contemporary Europe and separate European countries, but also able analytically assess the aims and objectives of the enlargement of the European Union; its impact on sociopolitical events and processes in European continent.

Upon completion of the graduate programme, graduates are awarded a Master‘s degree in Political Sciences.

Upon completion of the graduate programme, graduates will acquire the following knowledge and skills:

  • To demonstrate a solid knowledge of common European politics as well as its separate spheres of political life in academic reflection field;
  • To apply theoretical knowledge and handle a variety of European politics practices as well as its separate spheres of political life practices;
  • To identify and make a research of the new European political realities.
  • To demonstrate the skills, techniques and methods necessary for the analysis of various European policies and political events.
  • To have the skills necessary for the life-long learning process, tracking of the current events as well as their evaluation;
  • To demonstrate a high professional intellectual culture.

Career Opportunities

Graduates acquire the qualifications to work as political analysts, political consultants, experts or political commentators, reviewers at the following institutions and organizations: the universities, research centers, research and training institutions, civil service institutions, political party organizations, non-governmental organizations, various media organizations, and the institutions of the EU (European civil service). Graduates are prepared to work with European research projects. After completion of this programme, graduates may continue their studies by applying for PhD studies in political science.
