The BA level subjects are divided into four groups: A, B, C and D. The Group A comprises the subjects that are obligatory for all students at the university. Students have to study them during the first 2 years. All VMU students have to take 4 levels of the English language and acquire the basics in computer literacy, if they do not have them, as obligatory subjects. During BA level studies great attention is being paid to teaching foreign languages and students are offered the opportunity to study languages at the Centre of Foreign Languages.
The Group B consists of introductory courses to various branches of science and areas. They are divided into 5 subgroups: Biomedical and Physical Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Arts, Economics and Management. During the first 2 years one has to choose at least one subject from each subgroup.
The Group C consists of the subjects of the student’s chosen study programme (speciality). The Group D comprises the subjects which are chosen freely. They are not obligatory courses but the student may choose them if one wants to learn a foreign language or enlarge the knowledge in other fields.
