Vytautas Magnus University pays particular attention to establishing successful international relations, is a member of nine international organizations and has 160 partner universities around the world, and associations. The university is open for academic community from all over the world. Each year over 100 of students and a number of teachers from different international universities come to VMU and enjoy their time here.

Studying at VMU also gives a great opportunity to learn Lithuanian language, become acquainted with Lithuanian culture, literature, art, history and politics - the university offers Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Course for foreign students since 1998. Furthermore, the students are offered to learn up to 23 languages, including Latvian, Japanese, Turkish, Ancient Greek, Norwergian, Finnish, Portuguese, etc.

The university differs from other Lithuanian institutions which provide higher education in its modern conception of studies, based on the model of Harvard University (the USA). Vytautas Magnus University is seen as artes liberales university with its unique system of liberal studies, openness to the world, dissemination of liberal thought and high quality of studies. It is unique in the sense that the priority is given not to narrow and highly specialised studies but to broad university education, which satisfies the needs of student’s personal development and contemporary society.
