Studies in English: The faculty offers more than 20 Master level non-degree semester long courses in English. More information on the courses offered can be found on the website of VMU International Office.

Why Study Here? The studies at the Faculty of Law have been re-established and prepared in accordance to the model used by Western universities. This decision was grounded in the growing demand for highly qualified lawyers, who would possess liberal education, fluency in English and ability to work in both Lithuania and abroad. The faculty stands out for its promotion of the Socratic Method during the lectures. Rather than having the teacher speak and the students take notes, an unconventional approach, practiced in the most prestigious American universities, is taken. The scientists acknowledge that, because of this method, it is easier to make headway in law education by using discussions and practical activities to analyze applications of the law in specific cases.

Interrnational Relations:    In addition to the diploma, graduating students of the faculty may also be awarded a Transnational Law Certificate by the Michigan State University. This would testify that the graduate has completed the main courses of international law and is fluent in legal English. VMU is one of very few European universities which has signed an agreement of this kind with one of the most prestigious American universities.

A large part of the subjects offered by the faculty are taught by lawyers and legal experts from the universities of the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and other countries. Ample attention is given to the usage of legal English, therefore the faculty graduates are able to analyze legal documents written in English and compete with the best lawyers in Western Europe, apply for positions at European and international institutions.

Experience and Research: The teachers and professors of the faculty are well qualified scientists, specialists of their fields (civil, criminal, administrative law and other legal areas). Since many of them are practicing lawyers, the students are acquainted not only with all essential elements of the law in Lithuania, but also with the issues that the lawyers face when applying the law in practical situations.

In the Faculty of the Law, the researchers keep the influence of globalization at the top of the list. The study material is kept fresh and relevant thanks to innovative scientific research, which is carried out to tackle the hot-button issue of globalization and the problems it brings to the law. Research results are presented at special conferences organized by the faculty and the English-language scientific journal “Baltic Journal of Law & Politics”.
