Why VMU: International Environment
An intern from Hong Kong currently working at VMU interviewed a number of international full-time students and asked them to explain the reasons for choosing studies at Vytautas Magnus University. This series of articles, “Why VMU?”, presents their thoughts.
Muhammed Hasan Agan is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sociology. VMU was recommended to him by friend who also studies in Lithuania. After exploring his options further, Muhammed finally decided to apply for studies at VMU due to the education quality and the cheap tuition fee. After spending one year studying here, the international student offers high praise to the professors: according to him, they are some of the best assets of this university. The professors are always helpful and friendly, he says. “The thing that makes me very happy is that our professors understand the needs of the students. This helps my learning and academic development”, Muhammed explains.
He is also impressed with the international environment of VMU. The Erasmus Programme offers many opportunities for foreign students to visit VMU as participants of academic exchange. “It provides us with chances to learn new knowledge about different cultures and different views”. Even though Muhammed never joined the Erasmus Programme, he still benefited from its impact: his experience of working as a volunteer with the Erasmus Student Network at VMU helped him gain a wealth of cultural knowledge and become a more open-minded person. Muhammed admitted that this is quite important for him to grow as a well-rounded person.
