In commemoration of its 25th reestablishment anniversary, Vytautas Magnus University is to award 10 Scholarships of Lithuanian Studies for the participants of the upcoming Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Course and 2 scholarships for Lithuanian studies (duration: one or two semesters). During the studying period, VMU will cover the payment for summer courses and the semestre-long studies as well as the expenses on the participants’ accommodation.

VMU, the World Lithuanian University, welcomes members of Lithuanian communities, students of Baltics in the centres of Lithuanian studies (Lituanistics), world Lithuanians who have Lithuanian roots or are looking for them, citizens of foreign countries who nurture Lithuanian language and culture, etc.

The intensive Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Course will take place at the VMU Faculty of Humanities from 21 July until 16 August. During that period, youths from all over the world gather in Kaunas.

“This year, world Lithuanians are invited to return to Lithuania for the Lithuanian Song Festival (Dainų Šventė) and the Meeting of World Lithuanian Youth. We honestly believe that Vytautas Magnus University, which was reestablished a quarter-century ago in joint effort by Lithuanian and diaspora scientists and currently seeks to become the academic and cultural centre of Lithuanians from all over the world, i.e. the World Lithuanian University, will be attractive to everyone interested in Lithuania and the Lithuanian language”, Prof. Ineta Dabašinskienė, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and the head of the Lithuanian Language and Culture Summer Course, explained.

According to Prof. Dabašinskienė, VMU has already become an important centre of attraction to everyone interested in our country’s language and culture. “We cherish and appreciate everyone who was or is together with us. While celebrating the 25th anniversary of reestablishment, the university wants to share its festivities with others. We wholeheartedly invite all friends of Lithuania to meet again in Kaunas”, the head of the course explained.
