Summer Schools in the Germany, Italy and U.S.

VMU International Office has reported on the possibility to participate in three summer schools in Bologna (Italy), Frankfurt, Oder (Germany) and Miami (USA).

Summer School in Germany 

The summer course “European System of Human Rights Protection” will take place in the heart of Europe, at the border between Poland and Germany at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), Germany from 11 until 22 July.

Topics: European human rights protection system, civil and political rights, economic, social and cultural rights, institutions and mechanisms, security and intercultural dialogue.

Two Week Summer Course will deal in detail specifically, but not exclusively with the European system for the protection of human rights: the Council of Europe, the EU and OSCE. The treatment of the substantive regimes and their specific rights catalogues will be set against the background of a consideration of the philosophical, historical, political, economic and sociological aspects of human rights, and include practical institutional matters such as complaint procedures.

Held in English, the Summer Course will combine lecture and discussion approaches with a maximum number of 50 participants. Furthermore, at the end of the course, a moot court will take place. This allows  to practice skills in relation to real case studies. At the end of the Summer Course participants get a certificate of participation with 10 ECTS points.

Summer School in Italy

The summer school in Bologna, titled Forced Migration and Asylum: a Multidisciplinary Approach, will take place on 11-16 July. It is dedicated to graduates, researchers, journalists and social workers.

The Summer School, which received the support of several partners committed in the field of asylum and integration, will form a deep analysis of some fundamental issues associated with the current forced migration phenomenon paying specific attention to the importance of a methodological approach directed towards praxis.

Summer School in the U.S.

The summer school in Miami, which is titled Forced Migration and Asylum: a Multidisciplinary Approach, will be held from 25 July until 12 August.

The Summer School lasts 3 weeks and is addressed to students as well as professionals who need to enhance their language skills to succeed in their career in different fields like business, international relations, marketing, government agencies.

The course consists in 3 hours lessons per day with mother tongue teachers and includes different laboratory activities like project works, simulations, role playing and onsite visits during the week-end. The University grants 3 US Quarter Credits/6 ECTS points for the program.
