Season’s Greetings to VMU Community from the Rector
Dear community of Vytautas Magnus University,
Happy holidays to all the students, lecturers, employees and their families. This year was quite challenging, but the hardships only make us stronger. There is reason to believe that 2018 will be easier in all respects. First of all, I hope that the mission of VMU as a university will not raise any doubts anymore, as it is an essential symbol of the rebirth of Lithuanian education whose goal for the coming year and further on ahead is to work for the good of the country, the world, and the people. Naturally, as the end of this year’s activities is approaching, I wish to celebrate the achievements of the university’s entire community and remember everything we have achieved together.
Surely one of the most memorable events for Lithuania and Vytautas Magnus University was the discovery of the original document of Lithuania’s 1918 declaration of independence. Also, a highly important ruling has been passed to combine the universities of Vytautas Magnus, Lithuanian Educational Sciences, and Aleksandras Stulginskis into wide-spanning Vytautas Magnus University which conducts scientific research and studies in the fields of the humanities, social, physical, biomedical sciences, arts, technology and agriculture. This process confirmed that the university has no shortage of knowledge, experience and ideas to share for the betterment of the country’s higher education.
May the university have even more landmark days in 2018 and may our ranks be joined by the most talented students and lecturers from Lithuania and beyond.
May we retain the sense of unity throughout the year and express our generosity with meaningful good deeds that bring delight to those around us.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season,
VMU Rector Prof. Juozas Augutis
