Prof. Zygmunt Bauman. The Natural History of Evil
On October 1st, 2010, one of the most influential social theorists in the world and VMU Honorary Doctor Zygmunt Bauman paid a first-ever visit to Lithuania and Vytautas Magnus University, where he read a public lecture on the natural history of evil. Along with Anthony Giddens, Jürgen Habermas and Ulrich Beck, Bauman significantly influenced modern sociology, social philosophy and especially the discourse of identity and self-perception. He is acknowledged worldwide as one of the deepest and the most subtle interpreters of modernity and postmodernism. The regalia of VMU Honorary Doctor were awarded to Bauman in 2007.
