On February 14th, Rein Raud, former Tallin University Rector, will be awarded VMU Honorary Doctor's regalia during the celebration of Vytautas Magnus University's 90th anniversary at VMU Aula Magna (Gimnazijos Str. 7). Prof. Rein Raud, Estonian scholar, writer, VMU Council member and professor of Japanese, is very fluent in Lithuanian and agreed to share his thoughts on universities, their reforms, autonomy, and, of course, VMU.

On 15-17 May, VMU will welcome renowned World War II historian Prof. Dr. Timothy Snyder from Yale University and highly regarded philosopher Robert Ginsberg, professor emeritas at Penn State University. In the second half of March, professor Howard W. Brill from the University of Arkansas visited the VMU Faculty of Law, where he read lectures of Comparative Legal Ethics. Daukanto Str. 28, 2nd floor) will host the European premiere of The Trouble With Being Human These Days, a documentary about the renowned sociologist, VMU Honorary Doctor Prof. Zygmunt Bauman. After the first-ever showing of the film in the Old Continent, a discussion will be held by its director Bartek Dziadosz and producer Grzegorz Lepiarz.
