Film Screening and Discussion: Before the Flood
On Friday 9 December, 3 p.m., at Kaunas City Municipality’s Great Hall (Laisvės al. 96) the Lithuanian United Nations Youth Association (LUNYA) is hosting a screening and discussion of the 2016 documentary “Before the Flood.”.
The film follows Leonardo DiCaprio as he meets with scientists, activists and world leaders to discuss the dangers of climate change and possible solutions.
In light of the recent 22nd conference of the parties (COP22) held in Marrakesh, Morocco under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, LUNYA believes it is crucial now more than ever to educate people about climate change and the dangers of the unsustainable world we live in.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with several experts.
Environmental advocate and filmmaker Raul Cazan will lead a thematic discussion on a range of topics that relate to climate change, including food consumption, energy, industry, and transports. The discussion will also include an overview of the current stand off between protestors and military in the United States to prevent the Dakota Access Pipeline from being built. He holds a PhD in political science from the Free University Brussels. He is working primarily on environmental, technology, and energy policy, with particular emphasis on international institutions and global governance. He has taught at the University of São Paulo and is presently a consultant for emissions trading. More information about Florian Rabitz
