The European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen invite youth from all the EU Member States, to participate in a competition about EU development, integration and European identity issues.

‘The European Charlemagne Youth Prize’ aims to encourage the development of European consciousness among young people, as well as their participation in European integration projects.

The Prize is awarded to projects undertaken by young people which foster understanding, promote the development of a shared sense of European identity, and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community.

The projects can focus on the organisation of various youth events, youth exchanges or internet projects with a European dimension. The application deadline is 22 January 2010.

Last year, in 2009 the national jury of Lithuania of ‘The European Charlemagne Youth Prize 2009’ announced online project of Vytautas Magnus University www.StudyKAUNAS.eu as a national winner of Europe’s Charlemagne Youth Prize 2009.

Then the initiator of the project Secretary of Vytautas Magnus University Auksė Balčytienė expressed joy that such a young online project, mainly maintained by few people and enthusiastic international students has been selected as a representative for Lithuania. “We do our best to make it interesting for young people, to show that Kaunas is a young, active city with its exciting events and strong traditions. Besides that we also want to tell them about studies in Kaunas and Vytautas Magnus University, such an appraisal of the jury inspired even more enthusiasm to proceed and develop new ideas”, said A. Balčytienė.
