EUA International Experts Visited VMU
On 7–9 April, VMU was visited by a group of international experts from the European University Association (EUA) who organized meetings in the university’s faculties of their choice: Economics and Management, Humanities, Law, and Natural Sciences. The visit was a part of VMU’s voluntary participation in the external assessment of its activities.
The EUA experts met not only with the employees of individual VMU faculties but also the university rector, vice-rectors, heads of centres, etc. The members of the arriving expert group were: Lothar Zechlin (chair), Christina Ullenius, Hans Beunderman, Annakaisa Tikkinen, Christina Rozsnyai (coordinator) and Caty Duykaerts (AEQES observer).
In preparation for the visit, Vytautas Magnus University presented a thorough analytical self-assessment report to the EUA on 7 March. The report was prepared by combining the experience and efforts of the whole university community and the insights of VMU stakeholders. The self-evaluation process has provided an opportunity to critically assess VMU activities and promote both quality improvement and continuous strategic development. The university repeatedly applies the EUA practices of institutional assessment in its activities.
VMU received the European University Association’s accreditation in 2005. It is the first Lithuanian university to become a member of the EUA.
