Essay Contest for Students: Win a Trip to Azerbaijan
The Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Lithuania (AYOL) is organizing an essay contest for students. Until 25 April, students are invited to write English essays under the title “What Do I Know About Azerbaijan?”. Authors of the best essays will win a trip to Azerbaijan.
The contest is part of the governmental program “Azerbaijan Youth in 2011-2015”, which has been approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Republic in cooperation with the Ministry of External Foreign Affairs. Participating countries include Lithuania, Turkmenistan, Netherlands, USA, Brazil, South Africa, Morocco, Croatia, France, Italy, Russia, Egypt, China, Switzerland, and Albania. In Lithuania, the contest is organized together with the Embassy of Azerbaijan Republic.
Participant Eligibility
- School pupils (14 to 18 years old)
- Students and young researchers (19 to 29 years old)
- Only Lithuanian citizenship holders can participate in the contest
Essay and Document Requirements
- Essay should be in English and no longer than 2,500 words
- Essay should use Arial font and be presented in PDF format to azlit@ayol.lt until 25th of April
- The following documents should be presented with the essay:
- Filled-in Application form
- CV
- Scanned copy of ID/Passport
The jury commission will choose the best 10 essays, after thoroughly checking the scientific validity of all the used written materials, literature reviews, references and historical resources. The winners will be sent on a trip to Azerbaijan for the duration of 7 to 10 days as participants of cultural exchange program, which will include trips to the historical landmarks of the country.
NOTE: the estimated date of trip to Azerbaijan is in June 2013, and all expenses (including the flight tickets, hotel, internal transportation and meals) are covered by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Republic.
