Conference to Focus on Lithuanian-Polish Relations

International interdisciplinary scientific conference “The Dynamics of the Lithuanian-Polish Relations” is organized by Vytautas Magnus University Adam Mickiewiczs Club of Polish Language and Culture in Kaunas, Lithuania on the 19th of September in 2014. The conference is dedicated to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Czeslaw Milosz, presenting research on the dynamics of Polish and Lithuanian relations, on the topics of History, Political Science, Philology, Art history, Economics, Sociology, and other areas in the fields of Humanities and Social sciences.

The aim of the conference is to encourage research on long-lasting historical relations between Lithuania and Poland, their neighbourhood and experience, which are overlapped and changing during the political and cultural processes. Moreover, it involves identity issues of national minorities in both countries and their reflections in literature. It also includes analysis of problematic aspects of the contemporary context: both Polish and Lithuanian common interests and attitudes, foreign policy trends and strategic cooperation priorities, especially towards the Eastern neighborhood issues, the Euro-Atlantic security and development tendencies of the European Union.

Topics suggested for participants:

  1. Historical Paradigms of Lithuania and Poland;
  2. Lithuanian and Polish relations in the political, economic and social processes;
  3. Cultural development of Poland and Lithuania;
  4. National identity and its transformation: Lithuanian-Polish identity issues.

Languages of the conference: Lithuanian, Polish, English. The lenght of  the report is 15 minutes.

The conference will be held on 19th of September, 2014 at the Small Hall of Vytautas Magnus University ( S. Daukanto str. 28, 1st floor, Kaunas, Lithuania).

The conference also provides: exhibition, movies, a sightseeing tour in Kaunas, guided by the members of VMU Adam Mickiewiczs Club of Polish Language and Culture.
