Competitions for Accommodation at VMU Dormitories

VMU Office of Student Affairs has announced two competitions for the provision of residences at the university’s dormitories.

The first competition is for full-time VMU students (higher than first year of studies) who wish to live at VMU Dormitory No. 2 (Vytauto Pr. 71) during the 2015-2016 academic year. Online application form should be completed in the VMU Student Self-Service Portal, the section Dormitory / Dormitory Information System, until June 6th.

The second competition is for bilateral or other exchange programmes’ students who are willing to come to VMU and live at VMU Dormitory No. 2 (Vytauto Pr. 71) during the 2015-2016 academic year or autumn semester. Online application form should be completed in the VMU accommodation application form (for 2015/2016 academic year or only autumn semester) survey, until June 21st.

The competition is announced according to the Description of Procedure for Residence Management at Vytautas Magnus University, which was approved by VMU Rector.

The competition for first-year full-time VMU students will start from July 24th until August 8th.

For the students who will come to study at VMU in the spring semester of 2015-2016 academic year, the contest will start in the middle of the autumn semester – more information will be published on this website.

Conditions of the Competition

The place of residence at the dormitory is provided by VMU Office of Student Affairs with approval of VMU Students’ Representative Council. The main priority in the provision of residences for the 2015-2016 academic year is the promptness of filling in the application and the degree of detailed information.

The priority for residence is provided in consideration of the students’ social status:

  • orphans;
  • disabled students (after taking into consideration their current ability to work). If a disabled student wishes to live with an accompanying person, after reaching an agreement with the Director of the Office of Student Affairs, the accompanying person may live in the dormitory as well;
  • students from families raising four or more children.

Students who are not socially excluded have to complete an online application form by registering in the VMU Student Self-Service Portal, the section Dormitory / Dormitory Information System, until June 6th (for full-time higher than first year students) or fill online application VMU accommodation application form (for 2015/2016 academic year or only autumn semester survey until June 21st (for bilateral or other exchange programmes students who wish to come to VMU during the 2015-2016 academic year or autumn semester).

Students who are socially excluded (orphans, disabled students, from families of four or more children) have to register in the VMU Student Self-Service Portal (for full-time higher than first year student), the section Dormitory / Dormitory Information System, until June 6th, and:

  • complete the online application form;
  • from May 11th until June 6th, provide originals and copies of the documents that prove  the exclusive social/financial status (orphan, disabled student, student from a family of four or more children). Documents have to be presented to the Office of Student Affairs (address: S. Daukanto g. 27, room 210, phone: +370 37 327 977).

Students will be informed personally about the results of the contest by receiving an email in their personal FirstClass mailbox until June 19th, 2015.

Bilateral or other exchange programme students will be informed personally about the results of the contest by receiving an email in their personal mailbox until July 1st, 2015.

Important Information

The competition for the provision of residences at the university’s dormitories in the 2015-2016 academic year will take place only in the form of online applications from May 11th until June 6th for full-time higher than first year students and from May 18 until June 21st for bilateral or other exchange programmes students who wish to come to VMU during the 2015-2016 academic year or autumn semester.

The status of the completed application form for full-time higher than first year students has to be regularly checked by registering to the VMU Student Self-Service Portal, the section Dormitory / Dormitory Information System.

Students who make false statements or supply insufficient information will not be provided accommodation.

Students and Graduates Living in the VMU Dormitory During the Summer Period

Graduates of 2014-2015 academic year and university students who currently live in VMU dormitory “Baltija” and wish to live in the dormitory for the summer period (July 1st – August 13th),from May 18th till May 29th have to inform the manager of the dormitory about the stay and have to book the room for the summer.

Students who do not live at the dormitory now but would like to stay there for the summer period (July 1st – August 13th), are offered available residences at VMU Dormitory No. 2. In order to get the residence in the summer, students have to contact the Office of Student Affairs from May 18th until May 29th (address: S. Daukanto str. 27, room 210, phone: +370 37 327 977).
