ESN VMU (Erasmus Student Network of Vytautas Magnus University) – is a part of one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe, which operates in Vytautas Magnus University. The main aim of the organization is to work in the interest of international students, improve their social and practical integration as well as giving opportunity for local students to learn about other cultures, develop intercultural tolerance and teaching to appreciate volunteering and active citizenship. At the moment ESN VMU has 78 members. Part of it actively participates in mentors program, other part takes care of organization of various events of our ESN section.

Vision – enrichment of society through international students.

Mission – to be visible in the space of international higher education in Europe. Provide opportunities for intercultural exchanges, encourage cultural understanding and self-developemenent under the principle of SHS – Students Helping Students.

Projects & other activities

• Mentorship – help provided by ESN VMU mentors for incoming international students to integrate into community of the new country, city or university.
• Cultural Nights – cycle of 11 Thursday evenings at Autumn Semester of 2011/12 based on idea Build Bridges Not Walls, when foreigner students of our university with the help of VMU students clubs, lecturers and members of ESN VMU represented 23 different cultures of the world.
• Erasmus for Lithuanian Schools – project initiated by VMU International Office, which included 6 different schools in 5 different cities of Lithuania. The main aims of this project were to encourage intercultural tolerance and understanding together with giving pupils opportunity to get in touch with different cultures.
• ESN VMU for Kaunas Zoo – realization of international project Social Erasmus in our university, based on idea to help an animal from Kaunas Zoo.  At Autumn Semester of 2011/12 collected money were dedicated to buy necessary things for the wildcat.
• TANDEM – international project, based on idea students teach students their own language.
• Other activities – in cooperation with VMU International Office ESN VMU organizes many trips, orientation weeks, days of sport, welcoming and farewell parties. Also being a part of international organization binds us to participate in cooperation projects with local and international ESN sections, international ESN events as AGM, CEP and others.
