REQUIREMENTS FOR MANUSCRIPTS IN JOURNAL

Manuscripts should be presented in English or Lithuanian.
Manuscripts should be written by MS Word, using Times New Roman font, in 12 point.
Manuscripts should not exceed 10 standard size pages, with single spacing and the following margins: top - 2 cm, bottom - 2 cm, left - 3 cm, right - 1 cm. Annexes should not exceed 5 pages.

Manuscripts should be of the following structure:

  • The title of the manuscript (in 14 pt, bold).
  • Author's name and surname, the name of the institution he/she represents or, if none, the city and country of residence (in 12 pt, italic).
  • An abstract (200-600 characters): a brief presentation of the manuscript.
  • Main concepts/key words used to discuss the principal phenomena of higher education quality, found in the manuscript, and definitions (descriptions) of these concepts.
  • An introduction, which could cover the following issues: the explanation why the topic is relevant/urgent, the research problem, a short structure of the paper, and other issues.
  • The description and analysis of the research presented in numbered and entitled sections (and subsections). They could involve the presentation of research results, their significance and importance for the development of research and/or study quality. In case of empirical research, the main part should contain chapters on theory, hypotheses, procedures, results and discussion.
  • Brief and structured conclusions and recommendations.
  • References.
  • Any other additional information, if necessary, could be included in annexes.
  • On a separate page: information about the author - name, surname, institution, research interests, information for contacts (address, email, link to personal web page).
  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR MANUSCRIPTS

    Quotation:

  • Manuscripts should limit formal quotations to those held by copyright.
  • The references in the text are presented by pointing author's surname, initial of his/her name and the year of publication (for example, Petraitis K., 2003 or Petraitis K., Juozaitis J., 2004)
  • When exact quotations are included, the page where the quotation can be found follows the year (for example, Petraitis K. 2003, p. 23 or Petraitis K., Juozaitis J. 2004, p. 23-24).
  • Internet resources are treated like other publications with author and year. If the author cannot be identified, put the URL, for instance, URL, 2003 or URL (not dated).
  • References

  • In the references the publications that are mentioned in the text should be listed in an alphabetical order with indication of surname, initials (in bold), year (in brackets), title, source (for example, journal or edited book and its editors), city of publishing, publisher and pages. The following examples are given for a publication in a journal, the one in a book, and a monograph:
  • Petraitis K. (2004). Quality and Quantity//Journal on the Quality of Higher Education. Kaunas: VMU, p. 25-37.
  • Juozaitis J. Petraitis K. (1999). What is Quality? //Issues on Quality. (Ed. Kalvinas R.). Vilnius: Tyto Alba, p. 15-29.
  • Juozaitis S. (2000). Quality in Education. Vilnius: Alma Litera, 268 p.
  • Internet homepages should be put with surname, initial (if the name is not known, put the URL), year, title, URL and date of retrieval, for instance:
  • Hämäläinen K., Pehu-Voima S., Wahlén S. (2001). Institutional Evaluation in Europe. Available at http://www.enqa.net/texts/institutional.pdf Site visited 10th June 2004.
  • Quality Procedures in European Higher Education. (2003). Available at http://www.enqa.net/texts/procedures.pdf Site visited 19th June 2004.
  • Abbreviation:

  • When an acronym is used for the first time, such as UNESCO, it should follow its full title or its title should be presented in brackets. Abbreviations such as No., etc., and vs., should be avoided.
  • Abbreviations and symbols used in the tables should match ones used in the text or they need to be explained in the footnotes.
  • Visual information:

  • Tables are presented with titles given in the center of the text, and their numeration is given above on the right.
  • Pictures, diagrams and schemes are also numbered and their titles are given below, centered. Please provide the best possible copies in black and white.
  • Footnotes:

  • Footnotes could be used for short explanations.
  • Footnotes should not be used for references.
  • Brief acknowledgements could be included in footnotes.
  • Otherwise, footnotes should be avoided.
  • Delivery:

    A printed copy of the manuscript, signed by the author (authors), should be delivered by mail. An electronic version of the manuscript should be sent by email.

    SUBSCRIPTION

  • Subscription is accepted from Lithuanian and foreign readers;
  • Orders are accepted beforehand by e-mail, fax. or by post, providing the number of copies wanted, a client and the address;
  • Having paid the price of journal, it will be sent by post;
  • The price of the copy of journal 15 Euro for foreign readers (or corresponding to other country currency).
